And suddenly all the love songs were about you.

When I'm sitting in French class and can't concentrate on passé compose or imparfaitsomething.
When I can't do anything else but count down the minutes until I'm not cold anymore, because your arms are wrapped around me.

I told myself, "I'll never be one of those people." But you occupy my mind every second of every single day, and I can't help but realize: It is simply, and undeniably, obvious. I'm one of those people.

But within the safety of my own mind, there is no challenge I cannot accept. I may be indigent in name, position and appearance, but in my own mind I am an unrivaled goddess.

L'élégance du hérisson

I'm currently reading this novel: the Elegance of the Hedgehog. A hilarious book centered around the profound thoughts of 12-year old Paloma as well as the middle-aged concierge, Renée, living in the same Paris building. I haven't read all yet, but so far Barbery has amazed me with her beautiful use of language and how surprisingly easy it is at times to relate to much of both protagonists' stories. Makes you really think. Like this:

“I thought: pity the poor in spirit who know neither the enchantment nor the beauty of language."

“People aim for the stars, and they end up like goldfish in a bowl. I wonder if it wouldn't be simpler just to teach children right from the start that life is absurd.”

“I find this a fascinating phenomenon: the ability we have to manipulate ourselves so that the foundation of our beliefs is never shaken.”

“The real ordeal is not leaving those you love but learning to live without those who don't love you.”

“Do you know that it is in your company that I have had my finest thoughts?”

I've realized I have so many books I have started to read, but never finished. My lack of patience is no excuse, so, I decided that - starting with the Elegance of the Hedgehog - I'm going to finish all these books ( + a few others I haven't read yet, such as Anna Karenina) and awaken the almost forgotten book worm within me. Let the reading spree begin.

What did I just watch?

Invested in a new clothing rack yesterday; the days of cramming everything into this little closet are over. Very satisfied!

Bitch, keep it classy.

P.S. I still wait for you

7PM last night: getting ready for a night out on the town. I felt wild so I decided to wear my new vintage animal print jacket (I'm pretending it's spring in Sweden!), black crop top, zara high waist leggings and gold chain from h&m. I wear this chain literally almost every day. We look fabulous together.

P.S. I really need to buy a new, proper camera and stop shooting with my iphone... For all you camera nerds out there, a Leica D-Lux 6 is on my to-buy list; I can assure you that's it's worth the wait.

If you happen to want to see more iphone photos anyway, my instagram is dreamnation. Kabaam.

1. Yesterdays. Loving my new brown hair! Once a blondie, always a blondie = not true.
2. Made a HUGE bargain at H&M - these faux leather pants for 100 SEK (less than $10). the only ones left and they fit perfectly. Destiny? I think yes. Not too tight, not too loose. Perfect jënni-size. It should also be noted that I biked the entire day in these 12cm shoes - like a lady! When you don't have a real motorcycle, you gotta work with what you got.

I wish all the pretty girls were shaking me down

Hai. I woke up this morning ridiculously happy. I'd had a dream that the world was going to end - people gathered together during the night, because in one way or another there would be an apocalypse in the morning (I've watched too many episodes of the Walking Dead). When morning came, a huge tsunami swept away every soul and then I woke up - sun was shining, I realized it's Friday and most important of all: I'M StILL ALIVE. Oh the joy!
Anyhow. Currently on my way to work, thought I'd drop by to show you my swagger outfit of the day! Lolz. Not that it matters if I wear this or a hobo sweatshirt, I'm still gonna have to rock the lab coat look every day at work. New fashion trend, anyone?

There's something to be said about the colors in your head /and how they mix to form the perfect shade of sadness.

I drew a picture today. Promarkers and drawing pen.
Good night, world.

I <3 the Internet

Every now and then, I like to have a little cozy chat with random strangers. Who knows, maybe I'll accept a marriage request one day, move to Saudi Arabia and take care of my loving husband with all the saved, ginormous amounts of $$$ I'm making. Naaaat. Just FYI, these messages don't really offend me anymore. I lol at them.

Good to know.

Awesome! What was your name again?..

Good morning.

Art is never finished, only abandoned.

Confession of today: I like art. A lot. One of my favoritthings to do in my spare time is going to museums, art galleries, (or anywhere really..) just because I always get extremely inspired by looking at and examining all sorts of things. I don't think one has to go to the fanciest art museum in town to find inspiration - if you look closely enough, the greatest creativity is in the corner of your eye. Meaning: you can find inspiration wherever you go, if you keep your eyes open. I'm not saying you have to actually like something that you see, feeling utterly repelled can also evoke strong emotions that in themselves are very inspiring. OK, going too far witthe deep art talk.. *nerd alert*

I also enjoy creating my own art using different media - oil colors, metal, photography, napkins, you name it - and have been doing so on and off since 2010. I guess you could say that, technically, I picked up a brush the first time I was 16, in september 2010. (I'm currently 19.) I tell ya, painting doesn't come easy! My first "real" art piece is something I'd rather not discuss.. Anyhow, after some practice and a painting or two later I realized this was something I really enjoyed doing. I started off with oil painting, but have explored several types of media after that. this art thing just gets weirder and weirder, but at least I have fun doing it, and that's what counts, right?

Anyhow, apparently there are other people on this planet who enjoy my art, even though there is absolutely correlation between my paintings. Here are a few:

Looking at these photos, I realize I haven't created a single art piece since July 2012. I'm going to make this a challenge with myself as the only competition - you should be able to see a more up-to-date artwork within a few weeks (2 months tops!) If you really feel the need to see some more of my art, you can check out my facebook page jenni jalonen :art

Goodnight world.

it's not who we were, and it's not who we will be, it's who we are now.

Rewinding all the way back to the ancient year of 2006 to see how I've changed physically, from being an insecure 13-year old girl to "growing up" (will I ever grow up?) and currently going on 20. I've always been the type to change - new hair colors, trying out new ways of dressing and thereby defining myself. I think these photos reflect a lot how I've not only physically changed, but also how much I've evolved on the inside, trying to find myself in some sort of way.

2006. Loving the combo. I felt fabulous.

2008. I remember being so proud of this photo. Now I'm just like.. gurl lose the fake smile k.
